Rachel Mercado

I am the Branch Manager of EFM Solomon Islands. I have over 15 years of experience in shipping and logistics, 10 years of which is spent in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. I’ve previously worked at EFM’s Port Moresby branch as their Container Depot Manager which later transitioned to the Shipping Manager, looking after Maersk shipments to and from Port Moresby.

I am passionate about building teams and seeing them develop to their higher potential using coaching as a development tool. I believe there is a great benefit to developing mutual trust between managers and team members, especially getting the team to understand how the manager’s mind works. Given enough coaching opportunities and team-building activities, teams can grow and mature to supplement every role.

From a young age, I have loved reading books and am also an advocate of learning. I believe it is never too late to learn new skills and get certifications. I enjoy travelling and seeing new places. On my travels back to my hometown, I spend a lot of time with family and friends.
